Smart Lighting Control System
Smart lighting control system with 0-100% dimming, scene modes and scheduling — up to 40% energy savings for commercial spaces.
Project Background and Client Needs
A high-end hotel chain's new flagship property spans 400+ guest rooms plus a ballroom, all-day dining, lobby lounge and other public spaces. Lighting ran on conventional manual panels: ballroom setup took two engineers nearly an hour of circuit-by-circuit adjustment, public areas stayed lit around the clock, and guest-room lighting lacked the layered ambience the brand stood for. The owner wanted a smart lighting control system that would elevate the guest experience while cutting lighting energy — and that could be replicated at future properties.
Smart Lighting Control System Overview
JuHui Software delivered an integrated hotel smart lighting control system: luminaires, LED strips and motorized curtains in guest rooms and public areas connect in groups to control gateways. Guests adjust room lighting via bedside touch panels and a mini-program; engineering configures scenes, schedules and dimming strategies per zone in the cloud console; banquet and restaurant staff switch event layouts with one tap on a tablet. Integrated with guest-room control and door locks, the system automates lights-on at check-in and lights-off at checkout, and deploys quickly at new properties.
Core Feature Modules
- 0-100% flicker-free dimming: every circuit supports stepless dimming and color-temperature tuning, transitioning smoothly from banquet brightness to nightlight glow.
- Scene mode management: 20+ preset and custom scenes — welcome, meeting, projection, gala dinner, cleaning, night patrol — one-tap switching by zone.
- Schedule and daylight linkage: brightness follows sunrise, sunset and business hours, with daylight sensors keeping window-side areas at constant illuminance.
- Curtain-light coordination: motorized curtains work with lighting scenes — natural light first by day, privacy closure at night.
- Zoned energy metering: lighting consumption sub-metered by floor and zone, auto-generating reports that quantify savings.
- Centralized O&M monitoring: gateway and circuit status watched in real time, with lamp faults auto-alerted to the specific circuit.
Technical Architecture Highlights
The control layer mixes DALI and 0-10V dimming: ambience-critical spaces like guest rooms and the ballroom use DALI digital dimming, addressable to each lamp with status readback, while parking and back-of-house areas use cost-effective 0-10V. Gateways drive luminaires over DALI/RS485 buses and talk to the cloud over MQTT. The cloud scene engine triggers on time, daylight and occupancy, while the edge retains local scene execution so panels keep working through outages; all data links are encrypted to satisfy the group's security audits.
Launch Results and Data
Live from the flagship hotel's opening and covering all rooms and public areas, the system turned ballroom setup from a two-engineer, one-hour chore into a one-tap switch — an 80% cut in preparation time. Automatic daylight- and schedule-based regulation reduced total lighting energy by roughly 40% versus conventional control, with time-based control of the garage and service corridors contributing most. Stepless dimming and 20+ scene modes made room ambience a recurring highlight of guest reviews, and sub-metered reports gave headquarters clear per-property savings — enough to make the system standard for future hotels.
