Shared Coffee Machine Mini-Program
Shared coffee machine mini-program: scan to order fresh-brewed coffee with flavor customization and membership balance.
Shared Coffee Machine IoT App Development: Background & Client Needs
Fresh-ground coffee consumption is moving from cafés into offices, campuses and apartments, yet legacy self-service machines suffer from outdated payment, limited flavors, and zero visibility for operators into consumables and device health. A coffee new-retail operator planning large-scale deployment of shared fresh-grinding machines needed a software system supporting scan-to-order, membership operations and remote maintenance. Juhui Software delivered this integrated hardware-software-cloud IoT app development project.
Solution Overview: An Unattended Fresh-Brew Retail Platform
The solution is an IoT application for unattended self-service coffee, spanning three ends: a user-facing WeChat mini-program (scan to order, flavor customization, membership balance), the coffee machine device end (brewing control and status reporting), and a cloud operations console (device monitoring, consumables management and sales analytics). Users scan, choose and pay in the mini-program; the machine brews on order — fully unattended.
Core Feature Modules
- Scan-to-order with flavor customization: more than ten flavor combinations and cup sizes, brewed instantly after the mini-program order.
- Membership balance and coupons: prepaid balance spending plus coupons and first-order discounts drive acquisition and repeat purchases.
- Real-time consumable monitoring: beans, milk and cup stock levels report live with automatic low-stock alerts.
- Cleaning and sanitization reminders: strategy-based reminders by cup count and elapsed time keep food safety on track.
- Per-location sales ranking: sales and heat rankings per site guide restocking routes and placement optimization.
Technical Architecture Highlights
Machines connect to the cloud over 4G using MQTT for order dispatch, brew-progress reporting and consumable status; recipe parameters live on the device, and offline orders are cached and reconciled after reconnection. The mini-program integrates WeChat Pay for instant charging and the membership balance system. Sales data aggregates per location in the cloud to support operating decisions. Order commands and payment callbacks are idempotent by design, ensuring charges and cups served always match.
Results & Data After Launch
After launch, the ten-plus flavor customization options markedly lifted repeat purchase, and membership balances built a stable prepaid pool. Real-time consumable monitoring shifted restocking from passive patrols to proactive response, while cleaning reminders reduced food-safety risk. Per-location sales rankings helped the operator identify high-yield sites and optimize restocking routes, cutting per-site operating costs significantly; the operator has since scaled up deployment and extended the model to tea beverages.
