Shared Luggage Rental Mini-Program
A new shared luggage rental mini-program enabling travel scenarios with cross-site returns.
Project Background & Client Needs
The client builds shared-hardware services around airports and rail stations. Business and family travelers often need an extra suitcase — for overweight luggage, last-minute shopping, or sightseeing between connections — yet traditional rental counters offer sparse coverage, high deposits and same-location returns. Through a product iteration, the client wanted a next-generation rental mini program with credit-based deposit waivers, cross-site returns and full tracking, making renting a suitcase as easy as grabbing a shared bike.
Shared Luggage Rental Mini-Program Solution Overview
Juhui Software delivered the product iteration of the shared luggage rental mini program, comprising a user WeChat mini program, smart suitcase terminals with built-in GPS and e-locks, and a cloud operations console. Travelers scan at the airport or station to rent a case and return it at any partner location, billed by duration. The console traces each case's flow chain, auto-flags strays and abnormal movement, and uses rental heat analytics to guide station placement and fleet rebalancing — extending our hardware-software-cloud IoT architecture to upgrade the client smoothly from generation one to two.
Core Feature Modules
- Scan-to-rent, return anywhere — pick up at airports or stations by scan, return at any partner site with automatic settlement.
- Credit-based deposit-free rental — credit-score integration removes the deposit barrier and shortens the order flow.
- GPS + e-lock tracking — integrated positioning and electronic locks make unlock events and trajectories fully traceable.
- Stray & anomaly alerts — overdue returns and abnormal movement trigger alerts with linked service tickets.
- Rental heat analytics — flow by time and location guides station densification and fleet dispatch.
- Billing & packages — duration-based pricing with short-term bundles and frequent-traveler perks.
Technical Architecture Highlights
Each suitcase carries an ultra-thin positioning module and low-power e-lock, periodically reporting location over NB-IoT. Locks open via near-field Bluetooth commands from the mini program, with the cloud performing a second-order state check to eliminate unpaid unlocks. The order engine stacks multi-layer pricing — hourly, daily and capped tiers — while deposit-free rental runs on Pay Score enjoy-now-pay-later capabilities. Streaming trajectory computation builds a full lifecycle record per case, and a rules engine converts strays or forbidden-zone movement into disposition tickets automatically.
Launch Results & Data
After the new mini program launched, cross-site returns greatly expanded each case's turnover radius, credit-based waivers lifted order conversion noticeably, and deposit-related support inquiries fell sharply. The GPS-plus-e-lock combination keeps fleet recovery high, and overdue-return rates have trended down since stray alerts went live. Heat analytics led the client to add return stations at two hub terminals, easing peak-hour shortages; average daily revenue per case rose well above generation-one levels, and the client started adapting the system for overseas airports.
