EV Charger Remote O&M Monitoring System: Background & Client Needs
Chargers are widely distributed and individually low-value; any fault that goes unnoticed costs charging revenue and hurts user experience. As charging networks scale, manual inspection becomes costly and slow, so operators urgently need a remote O&M monitoring system: real-time health status of every charger, automatic fault alerts and dispatch, batch firmware upgrades, and unified spare-part and technician management. Drawing on a decade of IoT customization experience, Juhui Software delivered this charger remote O&M monitoring system.
Solution Overview: A Device O&M System for Charging Networks
This IoT O&M system targets maintenance of large-scale charger networks across four ends: the charger device end (status collection and remote control), a monitoring dashboard and console (real-time monitoring, alerts and tickets), a technician mini-program (accept, arrive, resolve and report), and a spare-parts management system. Integrated with the charging operation platform's data, it forms a complete monitor-alert-ticket-repair-review loop.
Core Feature Modules
- Real-time telemetry: charger temperature, output power and connectivity collected in real time, with tiered automatic alerts.
- Alert-to-ticket workflow: alerts generate tickets by severity and dispatch to technicians, with automatic escalation on timeout.
- Batch firmware OTA: unified firmware version management with staged gray-scale rollout and automatic rollback on failure.
- Spare-part inventory: intake, usage and threshold alerts in one system; every replacement is traceable.
- Scheduling and closed-loop review: technicians rostered by region; the full ticket trail supports fault reviews and performance assessment.
Technical Architecture Highlights
Chargers connect over 4G via MQTT, streaming temperature, power and online-status telemetry at high frequency. The alert engine applies dual threshold-and-trend models to avoid both false positives and misses. OTA upgrades use resumable transfer with dual-partition backup and automatic rollback to keep devices available. The ticketing system syncs in real time with the technician mini-program, and spare-part usage binds to tickets for traceable replacement records. The monitoring dashboard supports concurrent display of tens of thousands of devices.
Results & Data After Launch
Since launch, fault detection shifted from user-reported to proactive alerts at minute-level response, and mean time to repair dropped sharply. Batch OTA lets new features and security patches cover the entire network overnight, no longer requiring technician visits per charger. Spare-part management eliminated out-of-stock waits, and the fully traceable ticket loop makes every fault attributable in review. Overall device availability and charger utilization rose steadily, technician productivity improved markedly — supporting the charging network's continued expansion.
