Hotel Shared Vending Mini-Program
In-room smart cabinets for hotels: guests scan to buy daily necessities, with revenue split between hotel and operator.
Hotel Smart Vending Machine Software: Background & Client Needs
Mid-to-high-end hotels have long struggled with in-room retail: traditional minibars require costly manual inventory checks, shrinkage is hard to trace, and guests' late-night purchase needs go unmet. A chain hotel operator wanted smart grid cabinets placed inside guest rooms so that travelers could scan a QR code and buy daily necessities instantly — while cleanly splitting revenue between the hotel and the equipment operator. With a decade of IoT customization experience, Juhui Software delivered this hotel smart vending machine software project.
Solution Overview: An Integrated Hardware-Software-Cloud Retail System
The solution is a complete smart vending cabinet platform for hotel rooms, comprising four parts: a guest-facing WeChat mini-program (scan-to-unlock and pay), the smart cabinet hardware (electronic locks and sensing modules), a cloud-based operations console for placement, product mix, inventory and settlement management, and a payment-and-splitting layer. Cabinets are deployed flexibly by floor and room type, achieving building-wide coverage.
Core Feature Modules
- Scan-to-unlock shopping: guests scan the cabinet QR code, the compartment unlocks, and WeChat Pay settles the order automatically — no front desk involved.
- Automatic revenue splitting: every order is split between hotel and operator at agreed ratios, with daily and monthly statements.
- Offline selling: cabinets keep selling during network outages and reconcile automatically on reconnect.
- Product and restock management: the console configures product mixes per room type and raises restock tasks on low stock.
- Sales analytics: reports by floor, room type and time slot guide assortment and pricing decisions.
Technical Architecture Highlights
Cabinets connect to the cloud over 4G using the MQTT protocol for lock commands and slot-status reporting. Photoelectric sensors in each slot detect the pick-up action, eliminating missed payments. The mini-program integrates WeChat Pay, and revenue splitting runs on the platform's native split-payment interface. The cloud layer uses a microservice architecture to handle concurrent scan traffic, with resumable data transfer and idempotent command retries on the device-communication layer.
Results & Data After Launch
The system made in-room retail fully unattended: revenue splitting is fully automatic, offline selling keeps cabinets selling through network fluctuations, and coverage reached building-wide scale. Operational data shows a significant share of orders placed during late-night hours, with strong repeat purchases of instant consumables such as toiletries, drinks and snacks. The hotel earns steady incremental commission income with zero staffing overhead, while the operator continuously optimizes restocking routes and product mix through the data dashboard.
