Power Bank Rental IoT Platform: Background & Client Needs
Mobile battery anxiety has created a booming power bank rental market, but competition has shifted from equipment sprawl to refined operations: where to place devices, how to share revenue with merchants, and how to tune pricing per venue all demand data-driven decisions. A local-life services operator planning power bank cabinets across shopping districts, restaurants and entertainment venues needed a complete platform supporting scan-to-rent, cross-site return, merchant revenue share and operations analytics. Juhui Software delivered this power bank rental platform as a custom build.
Solution Overview: An Integrated Rental Operations System
This IoT app development project serves shared power bank rental across four ends: a user WeChat mini-program (scan to borrow and return, online payment), the cabinet device end (slot and power bank status management), a merchant portal (revenue share and device views), and an operations console (placement, pricing and ticket management). Users scan to take a bank, return it at any station, and are billed per half hour.
Core Feature Modules
- Scan-to-rent, return anywhere: users scan to borrow and can return at any cabinet; the system identifies the returned bank and settles the order automatically.
- Fine-grained billing: 30-minute billing granularity with differentiated price caps by venue type — retail, dining, entertainment.
- Automatic merchant revenue share: share statements generate automatically from per-site borrow/return data, with earnings detail always visible in the merchant portal.
- Heat analytics: borrow/return heat and device utilization guide placement, swap-out and withdrawal decisions.
- Restock tickets and maintenance: low-bank cabinets raise restock tickets automatically; field staff close the loop in a mini-program.
Technical Architecture Highlights
Cabinets connect over 4G via MQTT, reporting slot status and bank-identification data while receiving eject and return commands; two-way identification between banks and cabinets guarantees accurate accounting on cross-site returns. The mini-program integrates WeChat Pay for password-free charging and settlement, and the share engine calculates merchant earnings per site automatically. A cloud pricing engine supports dynamic pricing by venue and time window, and the ticketing system connects with the field-staff mini-program to close the restock dispatch loop.
Results & Data After Launch
Since launch, the return-anywhere experience has clearly lifted users' willingness to borrow, while 30-minute granularity combined with venue-based price caps balanced average ticket size against user acceptance. Merchant revenue share generates fully automatically, and the heat and utilization data in the merchant portal became the core evidence in partnership negotiations and site optimization; automatic restock tickets keep cabinet vacancy low. Guided by the analytics dashboard, the operator completed multiple rounds of placement rotation, steadily improving overall device utilization and merchant satisfaction with revenue sharing.
