EV Charging App — Shared IoT Platform
EV charging app and mini-program with time-based billing, remote control, revenue splitting and device status monitoring.
Shared EV Charging IoT Platform: Background & Client Needs
With the rapid growth of e-bike and electric-vehicle fleets, charging demand across communities, commercial areas and roadside sites is surging. Charging operators, however, face three core challenges: complex billing rules (power tiers, time windows and electricity-price policies vary), slow response to scattered device failures, and revenue allocation between electricity and service fees involving multiple parties. A charging-infrastructure operator wanted a complete platform covering both user charging and operations management. Drawing on ten years of IoT customization experience, Juhui Software delivered this EV charging app and IoT platform.
Solution Overview: An Integrated Charging Management System
The solution is an EV charging management system for e-bike and electric-vehicle scenarios, spanning four ends: a user app and mini-program (find stations, scan to charge, pay online), the charger device end (metering and control modules), a cloud operations console (site management, pricing strategies and device monitoring), and a payment-and-splitting system. Users scan to start charging; billing follows power and duration, charging stops when full, and any prepaid balance is refunded automatically.
Core Feature Modules
- Time-and-power billing engine: billing combines power tiers and time windows, with flexible peak/off-peak pricing strategies.
- Stop-when-full with refund: charging stops automatically when the battery is full, and prepaid balances settle on actual consumption and refund the difference.
- Station map and discovery: nearby stations and free chargers appear by location — scan and charge.
- Remote start/stop and fault alerts: the console starts and stops chargers remotely; offline and faulty devices raise tiered alerts.
- Automatic electricity/service-fee splitting: each order's electricity and service fees split automatically to the appropriate parties.
Technical Architecture Highlights
Chargers connect to the cloud over 4G using MQTT for metering uploads and start/stop commands. The billing engine centrally manages strategy versions in the cloud, keeping pricing consistent across stations. Payments integrate WeChat Pay and Alipay, with splitting built on the platforms' native split-payment interfaces for automatic electricity/service-fee settlement. The platform enforces overload-protection and fire-safety linkage policies — abnormal power draws trigger automatic shutdown — keeping community charging safe and compliant. Command links are encrypted end-to-end with idempotent handling to prevent duplicate starts and stops.
Results & Data After Launch
Since launch, the time-and-power billing model has enabled differentiated pricing by time window at the same station, visibly raising charger utilization. Stop-when-full protects batteries and reduces user disputes, while automatic balance refunds cut complaint rates. Electricity and service fees split fully automatically, drastically reducing reconciliation work between the operator and site owners. Remote start/stop and fault alerts moved maintenance response from hours to minutes, lifting operational efficiency and user satisfaction together.
