Shared Trekking Pole Mini-Program
Shared trekking pole mini-program leading outdoor sharing: scan to pick up, return at gates.
Project Background & Client Needs
The client operates a well-known mountain scenic area in China. Long trails with steep sections make trekking poles essential for reducing fatigue and slip risk, but traditional rental required staffed deposit registration at the gate, long return queues downhill and frequent disputes. The park also wanted rental tied to tickets, cable cars and annual passes to lift secondary spending — a self-service, traceable shared pole system with dynamic, demand-driven dispatch.
Shared Trekking Pole Mini-Program Solution Overview
Juhui Software delivered a shared trekking-pole IoT solution blending technology with the outdoors: a visitor WeChat mini program, lightweight poles with smart locks, gate-side station racks and a park operations console. Tourists scan at the gate to pick up a pole and return it at any gate on the way down, with duration-based auto billing. The console tracks pickup/return flow and wear, schedules restocking around visitor peaks and valleys, and supports co-branded park passes — turning a simple pole into an entry point for better park services.
Core Feature Modules
- Scan at the gate — visitors scan to unlock a pole, deposit-free and instantly.
- Return at any gate — racks at every gate sense returns and confirm settlement automatically.
- Smart lock management — lightweight locks report borrow/return state and battery in real time.
- Peak-valley dispatch — demand forecasting pre-stocks popular gates to prevent shortages.
- Wear tracking & maintenance — usage counts and wear per pole trigger maintenance tickets at thresholds.
- Co-branded perks — park co-branded cards, bundles and member points redeem against rental fees.
Technical Architecture Highlights
Each pole pairs a lightweight aluminum shaft with an embedded smart lock whose battery lasts the whole peak season maintenance-free, communicating with racks over low-power Bluetooth; racks aggregate to the cloud via 4G. Scanning binds the pole ID to the visitor's identity, while a cloud-side order state machine adjudicates payment and return confirmation, keeping concurrent multi-gate rentals accurately separated. The console forecasts per-gate demand from pickup/return event streams, auto-generating restock and transfer tasks and raising maintenance tickets at wear thresholds.
Launch Results & Data
After full rollout across the park's gates, scan-to-pickup essentially eliminated rental queues, and return-at-any-gate proved especially popular with hikers, with deposit-free access markedly raising rental rates. Peak-valley restocking cut shortage complaints at busy gates dramatically and balanced fleet utilization. Wear statistics shifted maintenance from reactive replacement to proactive rotation, keeping total wear costs under control. Co-branded card linkage boosted annual-pass sales, and the trekking-pole service became a word-of-mouth highlight of the park experience.
